Tulsi Manas Mandir , Tridev Mandir and Sankat Mochan Hanuman, Varanasi

Dear Divine Souls ,

Coming to my next destinations in Kashi Yatra were Tulsi Manas Mandir , Tridev Mandir and Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple.

Tulsi Manas Mandir

This is one of most famous temples in Varanasi and this is place where famous Hindu Epic Ramcharitmanas was composed by Saint Tulsidas. Located near Durga temple this temple stands on a large area with green decorative lawns and great landscapes around it. . The whole sight of watching the temple from the gate is simply beautiful . The whole temple was made in 1964 of white marble. The Temple is dedicated to Lord Ram.

Significance of the temple

The most important Indian epic Ramayana was written in Sanskrit due to which it was largely beyond the understanding of most of the people. Goswami Tulsi Das took up the responsibility himself of translating the Ramayana into Awadhi from Sanskrit. Which in a way considerably reduced the number of people who were being deprived of such a fantastic literary and devotional work. Tulsi Das composed  Ramcharitmanas in Awadhi at this very spot in Varanasi. Hence in rememberence people made temple at this very place .

The temple has two huge floors with a huge hall in the centre. The Tulsi Manas Mandir temple is constructed in white marble . The architecture of the temple is considered to be very complex and with ornate features. The beauty lies in the simplicity of the temple.

The most admirable aspect of Tulsi Manas Mandir is its walls embedded with verses and scenes from the epic Ramayana which are engraved.

Then I come to my other destination in Varanasi i.e. Sankat Mochan HanumanTemple

Sankat Mochan Temple

Sankat Mochan Mandir is one of the sacred temples of Varanasi dedicated to Powerful god Hanuman. Located besides Assi river the temple has huge area and whole area is filled with monkeys .Hanuman, the presiding deityy is remover of all obstacles and difficulties and hence the name Sankat Mochan. This temple was originally founded by Tulsidas as he got darshan of Lord Hanuman here. Also besan ke laddoo are offered to Lord Hanuman and taken home as prasad.  The deity is unique ,large and mesmerising. Devotees offer red sindoor to the deity .

On 7 March 2006  a terrorist explosions hit the temple while the aarti was in progress in which numerous worshipers and wedding attendees participated. The devotees helped each other in rescue operation after the explosion. The next day a large number of devotees resumed their worship,

But due to this security arrangements are tight here and photography is not allowed inside the compound.

  8. The first two temples look so grand! But the third one has its own charm. The hall reminds me of Chota Imambara in Lucknow for some reason.
