Dear Divine Souls,

After having bath at Dasaswamedh Ghat we headed towards Kashi Vishwanath Temple, another way from the main gate which passes through the banks of Ganga. But before reaching that,we crossed Manmandir Ghat and reached Nepali Ghat and Lalita Ghat. Nepali Ghat is named because it houses Nepali Lord Shiva temple.

In one line I would say that, " Tourists from all over the world just come to see this temple which has no comparison with any other temple in India because of its magnificence."

Walking around the ghats of Ganga is always a great spiritual experience and that too in morning one finds serenity and calmness even though the ghats are crowded with devotees in morning.

Dear Divine Souls,

6th March 2013

Besides Ganges

I wanted to witness sunrise in Varanasi on the ghats of Ganga and the timing of sunrise was 6.11 AM. We reached Varanasi at 6.00 AM. Our train was late by 2 hours. I started looking out for Hotels for keeping our luggage near Varanasi station and to my surprise all the hotels near station were almost full.   This took some time . So we straight away took an auto and went to Dasaswamedh ghat. By the time we reached Dasaswamedh ghat, the sun already rose and I started to feel the ecstasy near Ganges. Kashi is probably the only city in the world which lies entirely on one side of the river bank. The other bank is full of sand and no construction is allowed beyond that because the rays of Sun after sunrise should directly hit Lord Shiva's City.

The divine feeling experienced, of being aside the Ganges and watching sun rise over the horizon with boats swaying in the middle of the mighty sacred river cannot be described. Believe me it is so peaceful, that all negative energies and stress vanish just by the sight of this view. One just gets magnetized and glued once reached here.

Dear Divine Souls ,

After some days, I start again with my new Yatra which I am naming it as Kashi - Kumbh Yatra 2013. I had already gone to Varanasi and Prayag before in 2011 but this time due to Kumbh 2013 , I wanted to visit this again. Kumbh was my first priority and after commitment to my clients I somehow managed to plan my visit from 22 to 28 February and this time it was only my father in law who was coming with me. I asked my Dad but due to his health concerns he rejected the plan. Also I had planned Baijnath Dham  in Deoghar and then one day in Kolkatta  in the plan.

Unfortunate Incident and Plan Rescheduled

But again due to my wife's grandmother's death ( my father in  law's mother ) on 20th February everything got canceled. So now Kumbh was out of question . But still after performing final rites of his mother in Pune, My father in law wanted to immerse her ashes in Kashi and Prayag. So again I planned it for to start my yatra on 5th March 2013. This time most of the functions in Kumbh were over but still the important of the bath in Triveni Sangam was there. So anyways when God calls there is no question about his doings but plan to Deoghar and Kolkatta were canceled. So we started off on 5th February in LTT Varanasi Super fast Express and decided to go to Varanasi first. The train starts at 00.35 AM  from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus. So as soon as we entered the train we dosed off.

We woke up at Bhusaval Junction at 7.30 AM in the morning and had breakfast. This was suppose to be the last station in Maharashtra and then the train enters Madhya Pradesh. Till Satna which comes at 7.30 PM in the evening the train remains in MP and then it enters in Uttar Pradesh.

So today I am going to show you some pictures which I took from moving train mostly of Madhya Pradesh countryside.

I was damn happy to see extremely good and ravishing greenery in between. The whole state was green with crops and irrigation everywhere which was very pleasant sight to see considering drought which is occurring  in Maharashtra now. Just combine the beauty of Green and Sky blue together in picture below and tell me how do you feel ?

Although it was chilling cold when we slept but in day time it was hot. So I pushed on the buttons of fans but to my surprise even after switching on they refused to rotate. One of the travelers told me to take out my comb and put it in between the grills of the fan and then push their wings in order to give initial momentum. I did it and it worked . The fan gained its full speed providing us much needed coolness. Tell me how many of you have put your comb or pen in these grills to start the fan ?

Khandwa Junction goes at 10.25 AM and Itarsi Junction comes at 1.05 PM and stays here for good 20 minutes . Here we had lunch .I mostly don't eat from outside when I travel in trains but everytime my sweetheart is with me who makes arrangements for our stomach . But today I and my father in law had no choice but to eat from outside. Itarsi station provides very good lunch and has lot of varieties like rice plate, chhole pav , pav bhaji etc. After having lunch the train moves to next destination which is Jabalpur at 15.40 i.e. 3 and 1/2 hours. So this time I kept viewing the scenes from moving train. Although whole of Madhya Pradesh was green , but some views were really mind blowing. Tawa rivers come immediately after crossing Itarsi. It was lovely sight watching the river full of water although the water is coming from Tawa reservoir nearby . This ultimately meets the great Narmada river few kms away.

The train then passes through a jungle ....

Then finally a small station called Bikrampur comes after which the train is going to pass over the bridge of river Narmada .

Importance of Narmada river

Our sacred texts say that Narmada is the daughter of Lord Shiva and it is the purest and oldest river in the world. Even Maa Ganga assumes the form of black cow , comes to bath in Maa Narmada every year to wash her sins accumalated by the millions of poeple taking dip in her. Twelve times bathing in Yamuna river washes all sins, One time bathing in Ganga purifies all the sins. But mere sight Narmada is enough to wash the sins. That is the reason everytime I cross river Narmada through train I try to have a sight of her whatever the time may be.

Narmada waters and  Dams on it  has changed the total scenario of Gujarat , MP some parts of Maharashtra and some parts of Rajasthan. Gujarat which was every year affected by drought few years ago is now water abundant state. In every river water of Narmada flows through canals from Sardar Sarovar dam  thus keeping Gujarat and MP green and clean.

Here I have the sight of the great river from the train

Super fast Train Super slow in UP reaches Varanasi

Train reaches Jabalpur , Satna and Manikpur and finally Cheoki Junction at 12.00 AM midnight . Cheoki Junction is a small station 9 kms from Allahabad Junction. Our train was supposed to reach Varanasi at 4.00 AM and immediately we were going to start our tour. But just for 130 kms from Cheoki to Varanasi it took 6 hours and super fast train stops at all stations. OH ! you are in UP. This is OK. For around 3 hours I was standing near the door to have darshan of Ganga Maa when the train enters Varanasi  and take pictures and finally after 6 hours the moment arrived. Har Har Gange !

GOPURAM : Meenakshi Temple , Madurai

Dear Divine Souls,

Today I am starting another format in my blog called Singular Posts. In this formats I will write some of top attractions in India not necessary in the format of a travelogue . I start this one with none other than famous Gopuram of Meenalkshi Temple of Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

Gopuram is the monumental tower usually at the entrance of Temples of South India. They function as gateways in between the walls which surround the temple.

Among the many famous and huge temples visited in my Tamil Nadu tour , I found Gopurams of Meenakshi Temple, Madurai most colorful , decorative and spellbinding.

Meenakshi temple has a total of 12 Gopurams inside among which South Towers is largest with 170 m. It houses 1511 idols with postures describing the legends associated with them. The most amazing thing to be noticed is that sculptural work and paintings are very delicate, detailed and  artistic.

Travel India to Jal Mahal, Jaipur, Rajasthan, to see a Rajput Marvel

Dear Divine Souls,

Here I come to the final destination of my Great Rajasthan Yatra ( Ajmer, Pushkar and Jaipur) 2012 - 2013.i.e. JAL MAHAL.

Although first time I saw Jal Mahal when I going in my hired car to Amer Fort, I didn't stop. Once we were on the road to Jaigarh and Nahargarh forts I had good glimpses of it and captured it on my small camera.

Jal Mahal

Jal Mahal is a palace located in the middle of the Man Sagar lake situated 6 kms away from Jaipur City. The lake lies between Amer, the historic city and Jaipur. The lake has water spread o about 300 acres with Aravali Hills situated on its three sides. The lake was formed in the natural depression situated between Amer and Amagarh hills and a dam across Darbhawati river made by earth and quartzite. Long ago in Sixteenth Century when there was severe famine, the then rulers of Amer were incited to build a dam to remove hardships caused to people inhabited in the region. In seventeenth century, the dam was constructed in stone and masonry structure.

Travel India to Nahargarh Fort, Jaipur, Rajasthan, for the bird's view of Jaipur City.

Dear Divine Souls,

After completing Jaigarh Fort, we went to our next destination Nahargarh Fort.

First time I saw Nahargarh Fort was when I visited Hawa Mahal. Although it was in my list, the inclination and penchant to visit this fort grew to maximum.

Nahargarh lies on the rugged ridge of Aravali hills and it forms an extraordinary backdrop of Jaipur. Located in one of the oldest mountain ranges of the world, the Aravalli Hills, this fort gives you a breathtaking panoramic view of the scenic surroundings of Jaipur shown in the end.

Nahargarh along with Amer and Jaigarh forts forms a strong defence ring for the Jaipur and Amer Cities. It was constructed by Sawai Jaisingh II in 1734. Nahargarh means "Abode of Tigers".

Travel India to Jaigarh Fort, Jaipur, Rajasthan, for the Ultimate Experience

Dear Divine Souls,

After visiting Amer Fort we left for the Jaigarh Fort which is located nearby on the hill called "Cheel kaa Teela" ( Hills of Eagles).

Jaigarh Fort along with Galtaji is my favorite destinations in Jaipur.  The reason why it is will be definitely given in the pictures and description below. In short, this TITANIC JAIGARH has great glimpses of Rajput Architecture,Robust Construction, Massiveness, Sturdiness, Strength, Defense,Thick Walls , Height, Armory, Strategic Planning,Records, Devotion, Rajasthani Art, Paintings and Frescoes, Artifacts, Huge Courtyards, Palaces, Gardens, Magnificent views and many more.

Jaigarh Fort was built by Sawai Jaisingh II  in 1626 to protect Amer Fort . The fort is named after him and also called Victory fort. The size of this fort is massive with a length of around 3 kms and width of 1 Km. Till now Jaigarh fort was never conquered in the battle.

Travel India to Amer Fort, Jaipur , Rajasthan , India for stunning views

Dear Divine Souls,

In my last post we had seen the admirable and staggering artistry present in the Great Amer Fort . Today in this final post of Amber Palace , I will try to show you some mind dazzling and heart throbbing views of and from this colossal palace.

The first view of the Amber Fort itself is pleasing and alluring. Standing at the edges of the full water Maotha lake and sun rays directly hitting the strong walls of yellow Amber Fort , the whole scene is stupendous and gluing. One cannot take eyes away from this point and wants to stay here and capture as many images as possible.

Tip : Maotha Lake is very long water body and Amer Fort lies at one of the corners of this body . While coming to visit this place in car please halt at different corners and edges of the lake besides the road to take different views of this fort with the lake.
